What would you do if you were asked to start a Facebook page?

The school board of a large, suburban district got a suggestion from an administrator to make a Facebook page for the district. The administrator thought it would be good for the district to dip into the world of social networking. Board members weren't sure. Some didn't have the level of comfort with technology that some others did. Some weren't sure that schools should get involved with social networking. What should they do?

Get advice from your lawyer about the legal pitfalls of social networking.
Social networking is a waste of time--don't do it.
Assign a staff member but make sure you monitor the page.
